The kids woke me up one morning to come and tell them what the critter in the back yard was... this guy was the size of a turkey platter.. no joke... and we have seen another one, a snapping turtle the size of a dinner plate. I also found a baby snapping turtle while planting a hosta.
Remember I told you about the 10 little ducks? I thought they had all died ... then I went outside one day and there they were...

Meet the outside family

I bought this bird house because it was cute and I thought
it would look good in the garden. I hung it up and started walking
back to the house. I turned around to see how it looked and there
was a bird going in it. Now he/she is working very hard to get it ready
for babies... I only wish I could identify the bird... I have gone through
our books and online but I have no idea what it is.. It is brown/ rust on top with cream
belly. It look just a little bigger than a humming bird. They, there are two of them now
have a wonderful song and as far as I can tell they do not eat at the feeders..
When I set up the feeders in December these two Mallard Ducks
came and have come everyday at 9:00 am.... then they brought their babies.. 10 in all...
But they lost their babies and now are sitting on more eggs... because they don't come together
any more.. so I figure one has to stay put to keep the eggs warm.
This is Peter Rabbit. He lives somewhere close to us... he comes to visit everyday.
He has a wife now that we named Bunny. She too comes every day.. Shinji came running to
tell me one day that Bunny and Peter were playing and Bunny kept jumping on Peters
back. I told him that I thought it was Peter jumping on Bunny's back....
